On April 5th, all of AsTumbo Elementary School had a SCIENCE CAMP. Students went to different classes within their grade level and tried out STEAM activities. Students, built, experimented, tested, and programmed all across the campus. 5th Grade has even undertaken a beautification project with plants. April 12 will be the second half of Science Camp and students will be able to travel to different grade levels to learn more science and engineering practices. If you would like to hear more about how you can support your child(ren), please contact the your teacher or the Main Office.

Connecting Culture with Cool TechStudents in different classes from kindergarten to 5th grade became learned social studies and science concepts during Chamorro Month through the use of robotics. Students used their Ozobots to tracked the travels of Ferdinand Magellan and learned more about the important sites in the different villages by creating 3-D maps for Ozobot traveling. Students in Kindergarten to 2nd grade learned more about the legends of Guam using the Kibo robots. Older grade levels were encouraged to use the Lego WeDo 2.0, EV3, and NXTs to explore the science concepts behind the legends.

Math Competition and Carnival |
KIBO, Kindergarten, and BeyondGeared towards younger ages, the kindergarten to 2nd grade learn about robotics and coding using Kibo. They designed their own dream cars and coded Kibo to make their dream cars move.
Students participate in the different island-wide math competitions. Our 1st to 5th grade participated in the Math Kangaroo and Math Carnival sponsored by Guam Community College.
The Math Olympiad Team represented the AsTumbo Elementary Butterflies at the Island-wide Math Olympiad Competition at Pacific Star Hotel and were pictured on the Pacific Daily News Website. |
